I’m a curiosity-driven leader with a work ethic forged over decades as an elite and professional athlete in world-class team environments. As host of the Be A Good Wheel Podcast, I explore what it means to be a good wheel through the lens of performance, potential, and the wholeness of human experience. As a consultant, I coach individuals on mindset, performance, and leadership, and mentor early-stage ventures on operations, product, and marketing. Over decades working with top performers in professional sport, tech, and academia, I’ve honed my knack for solving tricky multi-stakeholder problems through emotionally intelligent communication, academic rigor, and strategic execution.
My heart is in the democratization of science and technology—an obsession born from my graduate studies at Stanford. I have authored peer-reviewed scientific papers and served as an academic research consultant, STEM research grant editor, and technical writer. I channel this expertise into my creative work as a podcaster and apply a scientific, evidence-based approach to my consulting work.
“I view competition as a powerful cooperative vehicle for growth rather than a zero-sum game. When competitors choose to engage in the competitive arena, they create unique conditions which bring out the best in one another, and which highlight individual strengths and areas to improve. They become allies in striving for greatness.”
Consulting
I consult for individuals on mindset, performance, and leadership, and for businesses (especially early-stage ventures) on product, marketing, operations, and go-to-market strategy. I specialize in performance mindset coaching for individuals and teams. My experience includes building, scaling, and leading globally distributed, cross-functional product and start-up teams.
Podcasting
I launched the Be A Good Wheel Podcast with a successful Kickstarter Campaign that was selected as a Kickstarter ‘Project We Love.’ As host, I work with Producer Maxine Philavong to create and publish the show. Previously, I co-hosted the Ask a Cycling Coach podcast, where I employed empathy and curiosity to empower my audience to understand and apply performance science in everyday life.
Founder
To create transformative, inclusive experiences for women in sport, I founded a non-profit organization, Network For Advancing Athletes, and created, organized, and promoted cycling clinics that changed lives through peer-to-peer mentoring, community building, and empowerment.
Professional Athlete
I built a 12-year career as a professional road cyclist, where I not only competed internationally, but also served as the product, brand, agent, strategist, and contract negotiator. For over a decade, I successfully cultivated product-market fit and consulted for global outdoor brands on product and marketing. Importantly, I cultivated a deep understanding of servant leadership and teamwork competing for professional teams and the US National Team in World Cups and on the World Tour, earning more than 60 individual victories.
